Exactly a year ago, my life got pretty awesome. Today marks one year of employment with my kick-ass nanny family. If you missed out on the post explaining how I started with them, you can find it here. I wasn’t feeling particularly sentimental about it, but then I got to work; and, the girls were both happy, Cora asked to listen to my song, I didn’t know what she meant, then her dad started playing Coldplay through the home speakers, both girls started dancing, and I had a moment.
For those of you who can’t say that you feel loved and appreciated by the people you work for, I’m sorry. I know that life, and I cannot tell you how much easier it is to wake up in the morning when you love your job. I am so gosh darn thankful for this family, I can’t stand it.
One year ago, Maeve was barely a month old, and Cora was a toddler. Now Maeve is almost a toddler, and Cora is becoming, like, a kid. Yesterday, I put her in some clothes that used to hang off of her, and now they’re a month away from being too small. Time– what a crazy concept.
Cora and I did some St. Patrick’s Day art this week. We made shamrocks out of apples and wine corks, it was a good time. Speaking of St. Patty, tomorrow I will be participating in Chicago’s festivities for the first time since I’ve lived here. This is also the first year that I know that I’m Irish; so, that’s neat. But, I don’t handle crowds, chaos, or drunk people very well… pray for me.
In other news, you may have noticed that I’ve added a new page to this site. The other day, as I was advising a friend about her anxiety, it occurred to me that I find myself asked for advice often. As I want this blog to help people– I had a lightbulb moment. I realized that I should start a version of an advice column. Here is a quick link to the page, let me know how I can help!
Happy Friday all!
